About the Seminar

This seminar is about helping GCSE students to develop effective revision skills and giving them the confidence to tackle revision tasks.

Topics Covered

Includes tips on how to use active revision techniques, how to make the most of past exam papers, how to make your bedroom a revision zone, how to get all your senses involved when revising and how to maintain high levels of concentration.

When is the best time to run the seminar?

Revision Cracked! can be run at any time in Year 10 or Year 11; before or after end of year exams / PPEs or in the period leading up to final exams.

Duration

50-60 minutes (adjusted to fit in with timing of lessons)

Maximum group size

Maximum group size 30 students (usually mixed ability).

Format

The format for the seminar will depend on how many students take part.

Example 1. If you have 150 students and a 5 x 1 hour day then the format could be 5 x 1 hour sessions, with each session attended by 30 students.

Example 2. If you have 8 form groups and 50 minute lessons then the format could be 8 x 50 minute sessions across 2 mornings (periods 1-4 on each day), with each session attended by a form group.

Whole year group

For a whole year group the seminar can be repeated several times over one or two days.
